OMG, We did IVF!

Yes, I just had one of those moments. Even after a cancelled fresh after ER, a FET and another fresh, I still think, holy crap, we're doing IVF. I really can't believe that I did it. I hate needles, doctors, all that. I remember before we moved to Florida, a doctor had to chase me around her office to give me a shot. Now, I'm being hit with 22 gauge needles. These are long, big and thick! It's used for the progesterone in oil which well, is thick and HURTS !

I'm really trying here, really hard to focus at work. But, let's face it! It's nearly impossible. All I can think about it whether or not, this IVF worked. One minute, I'm like, we had two 8 cell embies, grade 2, why wouldn't it? Then, I'm like, well, sometimes, it just doesn't for NO reason! But, for now, I'm handling the wait well, I have had two meltdowns this week but I'm done until Monday. Unless, of course, I bleed, that will end me over the edge. NO BLEEDING! Please! none!!!

Transfer Complete!

This morning, we transferred two 8 cell grade 2 embryos. The nurse told us that they like them to be at 6 or 8 cells on day 3, so 8 cells is great! As for the grade, most embyros are normally grade 3 so grade 2 is above average! So, the embryos are awesome! They gave us pictures and I'm trying to put them in this entry. Hopefully, I got it right! You will see two photos, the one on the right is of both embryos. The picture on the left is a closer look at one of them.

I'll be honest, she brought us the photos and I saw all three. The first thought was, UM, you want us to transfer 3? that ain't gonna happen, not this time anyways! She just explained it was just a close up, thank god for that.

The transfer went fine. Dr. H said the embryos were great and transfer went fine. He said to the embryologist, Christi would like to get pregnant! She doesn't care if it's a boy or a girl and I said, nope, don't care if it's one or two either!!! But, we would like a Gator. So, here is the photo of the embryos in my uterus. You can see a white dot near the arrow and that's the air from the tube and the embryos are right behind it. The arrow is pointing to the embryos.

After transfer, the dreaded 30 minute wait! Of course, you fill your bladder before transfer. Going in, I thought perfect! I don't have to go, I can do this. Last time, it was awful. But, boom, they stick the US wand on the uterus, OKAY, I have to pee now! Transfer took 5 minutes and off I went to wait the 30 minutes. I have to say, it went quite quickly. But, I was drifting off thanks to the valium. It worked much better this time.

I think that's it! We wait now.... I go in on Monday to have my progesterone tested and the following Monday to see if I'm pregnant. It's also St. Patty's Day! Let's hope the luck of the irish works for us!!!

I'm Addicted to Boost!

you know, the drink! My cycle buddy, Em, suggested them since they are high in protein. And, I need the extra protein to prevent or reduce ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. I think it's helped and now I'm addicted. I was really expecting them to be nasty and chalky tasting but they ROCK! I am seriously addicted, who knew?!?

Transfer is Tomorrow

I got a call this morning that we will do a 3 day transfer tomorrow at 9am. She didn't say much about the other embryos just that we have 3 nice ones so they know which ones to transfer! sounds good to me, let's get them back in me, that's where they belong!!!!

I'm feeling pretty good today. So, we decided to venture out especially since I will be in bed over the next few days. I needed to get out or I would go bonkers in bed the next few days. I have 3 movies set aside to watch. I plan to nap and maybe read some magazines. Either way, a few days to relax in bed! sounds good to me. I hope these embabies snuggle in for the long haul.

Embie Update

We have embryos! Thank god, I was going literally crazy. I finally decided to lay down and rest. I know time always goes much faster when you are sleeping. So, we had 4 that were not mature. Out of the 11, 9 fertilized with ICSI. This is wonderful news! Last time, we had 4 out of the 26 that were not mature. But, out of those 22, 14 fertilized and if you do the math that's 63%. So, our fertilization rate is up. As of now, they have me down as a 5 day transfer since there are 9 that they are watching. We will see tomorrow how they are dividing and if they are framenting. What a relief! Now, I can rest for the remainder of today.

It's great that we may go to day 5 BUT I just want my embryos back in me!!!!

ER Update

Well, I am sitting here going BONKERS! really, I am. I'm hoping blogging will help me keep my mind off of my wait. I'm waiting to hear from the lab on the eggs to see how many were mature and how many fertilized. They retrieved 15 which is very good. Last time, they retrieved 26 and that ended badly, too many!

I am feeling much better than last time. We arrived around 730am, got checked in, IV started. Judy and Bev were my nurses. There was only one other ER yesterday. So, it was quiet plus, it was a Sunday. Dr. H did my ER, he was very happy yesterday. The first thing out of his mouth, well after how are you, was Good News!!! I was like really? already? we haven't even gotten started, LOL. He says, I get to do both your ER and ET! So, nice to hear he thought I'd be having a ET this time. :) and, Susan, one of my favorite IVF nurses assisted in the OR!

I remembered getting off the ER table and was up fairly quickly. The nurses were all happy about that. I was out of there fairly quickly. Of course, we go to get on the expressway and it's bumper to bumper. We had to get off at the next exit and it took an hour vs. 35 minutes to get home. I was wanting a percocet bad but the pain was tolerable. I was just afraid it'd get worse. I spent all day in bed and took a few percocet. I think that's about all, pretty easy day. Now, we wait for the fertilization report!!! Last time, they called around 8am, and here it is 930am and still no call. I would just like to get past another thing and rest today. I can't rest until I hear this report....

Tomorrow is ER!!

My last ER was September 7th. I think that date is engraved in my memory. I hope to forget it and replace it with tomorrow's date, March 2nd. Tomorrow is one of the big days! I am a little nervous but I know what to expect so not too worried about the pain part. I'm worried that they'll get too few eggs, too many eggs causing OHSS again or that Tom won't have any sperm. It's all really ridiculous. We have frozen sperm and I got eggs last time so it'll be fine. I guess I am afraid of the OHSS. My estrogen is sooo much lower so I hope it won't be a severe issue where they cancel my ET again. I really just want my embryos back in me! It's my motto for this whole thing, just get them back in me! It's where they belong... And, once they are back, there's nothing that anyone can do to change what can happen. We just wait. No monitoring appts, no changing doses of meds, just PIO shots and wait.

I really hope this works. I'm tired of doing this, tired of it all, the physical parts, the emotional parts, everything! I want to move forward instead of being in this constant baby making phase. It's awful. So, here's hoping tomorrow is successful, brings HEALTHY and BEAUTIFUL eggs that multiple.....
